Yanis Varoufakis Denounces The Syriza And Demands To Open The Profession Of The Barber

Replying letter from chairman DiEM 25 Yanis Varoufakis to Spyros Priftis, who complains that the Syriza government has again closed the profession of barber-hairdresser in Greece.

An effort to establish his own barber shop fell upon the rocks of Greek bureaucracy from 2011, and called on the EU Commission  and IMF to help him.

The Corfiot barber Spyros Priftis became known to the Greek public and World, the when the European Commission and IMF informed him it would intervene on his behalf to give him the possibility of opening a barber shop on his native island.

The whole thing became an issue when Mr Priftis was barred from opening a barbershop as the law in force at the time disqualified him, because, despite being a graduate of a barber's college, he had to have two years prior experience.

When finally, in 2014, this profession was partially opened up, the spyros priftis complains to the Ombudsman that the Minister of Education, Kostas Gavroglou, with a new law in 2018, has re-closed the profession. In fact, the Ministry of Education also disregarded the Ombudsman, where the affected person addressed.

Yianis Varoufakis, however, replied. In a letter, the former minister points out that "there are professions that open their doors to the consumer by opening up the market." "The most striking example of the barber / hairdresser. Students graduating from private hairdressing schools can not practice the profession or even participate in the certification process because their diplomas are not recognized, "says the chairman of DIEM 25, and that is why the Government of Syriza has the responsibility for it!
